  • Munith is a small unincorporated community located in Henrietta Township, southwest of Stockbridge.

  • The town was established when the Grand Trunk Western Railroad added a depot stop in the early 1800s.

  • Jean Baptiste Berard is believed to have settled in the Munith area in 1816 and established a trading post there in 1831.

  • Nearby Batteese Lake was named in his honor. In 1839, local settler Henry Hurd organized the area’s first post office and named the township Henrietta after his hometown of Henrietta, New York.
